Robert McClelland was a Michigan congressmen and governor. He was born in Greencastle, Pennsylvania on August 1, 1807, and graduated from Dickinson College, Carlistle, Pennsylvania in 1829. He worked as a teacher before his admission to the Pennsylvania bar in 1831. McClelland moved to Monroe, Michigan two years later, becoming delegate in the state constitution convention in 1835.
